It all started with Madame. She became my teacher when I was twelve years old, entering eighth grade, at a private high school named Chadwick. She was my homeroom teacher for 5 years, just the person I needed to guide me all the way through to graduation. All my administrative business and college counseling was conducted through her. She was strict, but I adored her. She was also chic and fun, and empathetic even when she had to take points off your paper.
From day one, neither English nor any other language was permitted in her class. We learned the French language, but also the history and culture. And so began my love affaire with France and all things French. I felt more French than American.
Since then I have continued to read, write and listen to French. My neighbors who take in couch surfers bring any French speaking guests over for dinner, giving me a chance to practice speaking. Through my husband, I have cousins in France. Through good luck we have made many more French friends. I have taken my family there twice, and we have made many wonderful memories. I remain enthralled.
Now that I have a chance to bring a little French ambiance and cuisine to my own Montana Valley, I am thrilled. I have had the good fortune to obtain my dream location, an unbelievable executive chef, talented sous chefs, and a great team overall.
Join me as we build this bakery and bistro, and bring a little intercontinental delight to this special Montana Valley.
